“The $20 Fix” to public perception of pet euthanasia. Animal causes are near and dear to us. Pet euthanasia ranks among the most important, because the unnecessary deaths of more than 20,000 animals in our region’s shelters can be eliminated with targeted spay/neuter services.
We volunteered with non-profit AnimalKind to manage public awareness for the grand opening of ReTails Thrift Shop, where all proceeds finance THE $20 FIX, a financial assistance program for low-income pet owners to afford spay/neuter.
During the grand opening weekend, ReTails garnered two articles in the region’s largest newspaper, with feature news coverage from six regional television stations. Sales surpassed expectations, and ReTails was voted among the top three most popular thrift stores in a regional poll… in its first month of operation!
AnimalKind’s $20 FIX program has funded more than 12,000 spay/neuter surgeries for low-income pet owners. That translates to nearly one million puppies and kittens being spared from death in area shelters.
