Local and national media featured Southern Crane’s installation of U2’s giant stage for the 360 Tour in Raleigh in 2009. Using three cranes over four days, Southern Crane lifted into place and disassembled the massive structure. Our announcement received coverage in media around the world, including U2 fan websites.
It takes creative thinking to promote the actions of a crane company. So when Southern stepped in to help the State Capitol of South Carolina, we made sure media knew who did the “heavy lifting.” Similarly, Southern also earned media attention for another famous installation. This time in 2010 when installing Rodin’s “The Thinker” at the North Carolina Museum of Art.
We also had the opportunity to work with Southern Crane’s parent company Southern Industrial Constructors, at the time one of North Carolina’s largest private companies. We helped re-start their long dormant newsletter with interesting stories that showcased the unique Southern heritage. After two years, the company was acquired by publicly traded EMCOR Group, Inc.
